Simon Jersey designs are out of this world
March 2009
Altham
based Simon Jersey had a surprise model for its new Star Trek uniforms when ITV's
Paul Crone dropped by the offices to check out the space age design.
His interest was sparked after it was announced Simon Jersey had been shortlisted
for the international Company Clothing Awards Design Innovation Award for its star
ship cadet, prison guard and waitress uniforms.
Simon Jersey call centre employee Saphia Bagum, was also enlisted as a model and
made her television debut on Granada Reports alongside Paul Crone in a humorous
series of clips based on the legendary sci-fi film.
The Design Innovation Challenge is just one of nine Company Clothing awards that
Simon Jersey has been shortlisted for and the company is hoping for Slumdog Millionaire
style results on the evening by taking all nine!
Its new catalogue and website have been selected as amongst the best in the industry
and the company has also been nominated for Best Managed Major Contract and Best
Careerwear Design for Emirates Airlines, Best Managed Boutique Contract for Oddies
Bakery, Best Soft Tailoring for Avis and Best Stock Range for its Prestige Collection.
National account manager Clair Wilkinson has been shortlisted for the Bryan Hartnell
Account Management Award for her ongoing efforts in managing the worldwide AVIS
account.
Charlie Pogson, director of marketing and design at Simon Jersey, said: "It
is fantastic to receive recognition for so many of our products and services."
"The international Company Clothing Awards are like the Oscars of the corporate
clothing industry and companies from around the world have entered in the hope of
winning one of the coveted titles."
"We want to follow in the footsteps of another regional success story, the celebrated
Slumdog Millionaire film, and walk away with nine trophies on the night."
"The Star Trek uniforms gave our design team a fresh challenge and, as ever,
they didn't disappoint."
"Although they were designed for, quite literally, another time and world, we
stuck to the rules of uniform creation, which is to make sure they are stylish,
practical, functional and fit for purpose - whatever the job role."
Lotte Debell, organiser of the Company Clothing Awards, commented: "Simon Jersey
has had a fantastic twelve months and the fact that they have been selected for
the shortlist for so many awards is testament to it continuing efforts.
The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony at the Park Lane Hotel in
London on March 12th.
