About Simon Jersey

About Simon Jersey

Simon Jersey is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of uniforms. Our customers range in size from one member of staff to hundreds of thousands of employees, in every business sector.

We are passionate about creating stylish yet practical uniforms that look good day after day and wash after wash. We offer a catalogue range of more than 900 garments to allow our customers to create the ideal uniform for their business and launch new garments every year. Bespoke uniforms for our national customers are created by our in-house design team.

Our history

The company was set up nearly 45 years ago by Lancashire businessman Simon Moyle. Mr Moyle owned a chain of fashion stores in and around Accrington, where we’re based, and was approached by a local pub to create a uniform.

Mr Moyle recognised a gap in the market for a company that could create uniforms that looked good and were comfortable and practical to wear for work and Simon jersey was born.

The company was originally based above a shop in Accrington town centre but having outgrown those premises we moved into our current, purpose built headquarters in 1991. The distinctive building has won numerous architectural awards and is located across the road from The Walton Arms – our first customer.

After several changes of ownership, Simon Jersey was bought last year by entrepreneur David Ross. The new ownership, and new senior management team, has reinvigorated the company and our focus on delivering innovative garments and top quality customer service.

It’s this approach to innovative uniform solutions that meant we were last year appointed as an official supplier to Team GB for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Our Social Responsibility

Simon Jersey strongly believe that our overall business performance has become intrinsically linked with our performance in the environmental and social realm. We know that in order to achieve economic success, we must also contribute to social and environmental success and we will therefore do all that we can to meet and exceed all CSR related expectations of the company’s stakeholders. However, we also believe that the greatest reward of our efforts in the realm of CSR is to see the concrete results in the form of good working conditions for the people that we depend on and measurable reductions of negative environmental impacts. Simon Jersey embrace the notion that all corporations have a social responsibility that they must act upon but on a fundamental human level we act because we care, and because we can.

We take respect for human rights and compliance with labour laws very seriously. To ensure that we uphold high standards Simon Jersey has adopted a Code of Standards based on the ETI Base Code, along with being members of Sedex (the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange).

Simon Jersey is committed to ensure that all suppliers and subcontractors within the Supply Chain, with which Simon Jersey has a direct (contractually regulated) business relationship, shall sign our Code of Conduct Compliance Commitment and participate in our Code of Conduct Compliance Scheme.
