Happy 40th Birthday Simon Jersey
Jul 2011
Simon Jersey, the pioneering corporate clothing specialist, has kick-started celebrations to mark its 40th anniversary.
Employees at the company's Altham headquarters were treated to champagne and birthday cake, in the first of a series of surprises to thank not only staff, but customers too, for their loyalty and support since Simon Jersey, now part of Europe's largest work wear provider Kwintet, launched in 1971.
Shane Bray, managing director, said: "Whilst Simon Jersey is almost unrecognisable 40 years on, we still live by the cornerstone of our business – an enduring commitment to choice, quality and value. From a humble beginning with three members of staff, to a £25million turnover, selling 2.3 million garments per year, none of the Simon Jersey history would have been carved out if it wasn't for our past and present dedicated team members and our faithful and fashionable customer base.
Throughout its history the award-winning company, part of Europe's biggest corporate clothing group Kwintet, has diversified its offering and stayed at the forefront of emerging trends and technologies.
The company was formed in 1971 by Simon F. Moyle, and within 10 years he had pushed the company to a 500% increase in turnover, and in 1981 the first Simon Jersey catalogue was launched. The following decade saw distribution expand into Europe, the formation of a corporate division and the first of many overseas fashion shoots in Tenerife.
Simon Jersey rocketed to the forefront of corporate clothing in the 90s, with contract wins including Avis and Hertz car rentals, both of which the company still holds today, relocation and expansions to its Altham headquarters and Investor in People and ISO 90001 certification.
As the world welcomed in the 21st century, simonjersey.com was launched, offering customers online ordering for the first time. Garment innovations, including the launch of the best-selling asymmetrical tunic and the machine washable suiting range, secured Simon Jersey as a leading light in corporate wear.
