Beauty Uniforms Position Your Brand
Nov 2010
Beauty uniforms are a key part of any salon's brand proposition. And in today's current economic climate it is particularly important to promote your brand effectively. Of course you don't want to have to shout too loudly about your business offer, but if you don't make your presence felt in your sector in some way you could run the risk of disappearing into what is a very over crowded market place. Now more than ever businesses, especially those centered around the fashion and beauty industry, need to find ways to make their mark and help to differentiate their business from their competitors; one way of achieving this is through their beauty uniforms.
Personalisation is an excellent way of doing this. Adding a company logo or brand to your beauty uniforms is a cost effective and immediate method of enhancing brand recognition and credibility in the mindset of your customers. And banish from your minds any images of loud logos emblazoned across chests; personalisation can be striking while at the same time remaining aspirational and subtle. Choose embroidery for a timeless quality and classic finish, or a tab sewn into a seam to quietly display your company name. Printed badges are a striking way of introducing your team, and are especially useful in a business which regularly updates its team members or where uniforms can be shared or re-used. Whichever method you decide to use, personalisation can help to introduce a sense of professionalism to your beauty uniforms and help to turn first-time customers into the foundation of your regular client base.
Another way of achieving brand recognition is through your use of colour. You should make sure your corporate colours are reflected in your choice of beauty uniform. And that's not to say you have to dress your team in one colour from top to toe. Although if you really wanted to make a fashion statement about your salon this would be a fabulous start. There's a massive range of colours available to choose from out there, so perhaps now is the best time to move away from the supposed fail safes of black, white and grey and start experimenting with colours. Camel, beige and neutrals have been all over the catwalk this year and can be seen as a bold fashion choice without tipping your look into 'wacky' territory if worn on both top and bottom. If you're corporate colours are based on a classic colour palette of black and white but you'd still like to introduce a splash of colour, why not think about using highlight or accent colours to add individuality? A hot pink sleeve trim or aqua ribbon tie can really stand out against a monochrome background and help to pull together your beauty uniforms into one seamless working wardrobe.
So when it comes to choosing your beauty uniforms remember to think about what it is you would like to say about your salon and how you would like to be perceived in your client's imaginations – and whatever you do, don't forget to always dress you and your team to impress!
