We support radio DJ’s Children in Need Challenge

We’re helping BBC Radio Lancashire DJ Graham Liver battle the elements as he treks 100 miles for Children in Need – pulling a four-poster bed!

Graham, who presents the station’s daily Breakfast Show, has taken on the challenge to walk from Pudsey in Yorkshire to Bare in Lancashire – all while pulling a specially commissioned bed.

To help him on his way, Simon Jersey has provided warm hoodies, t-shirts embroidered with his Liver’s Lancashire Lie In logo plus waterproof trousers to keep him warm. He hopes to finish the fundraising effort by Friday 18th November when Children in Need is live on BBC1.

We’ll also be adding to the Lancashire fundraising total with a bake sale and dress up day.

James Saunders, Simon Jersey managing director, said: “Graham is a familiar voice to all of us who live in Lancashire and when we heard about his latest challenge we were happy to help.

“He is walking from early in the morning to late at night and we know that the winter weather will be tough. We’ve provided enough clothes to keep him warm and wish him the best!”

Graham will be visiting various schools and community groups during the walk and conducting interviews for his morning radio show live from the bed.

It’s the latest in a series of Children in Need challenges for Graham who has previously cycled from the Eiffel Tower to the Blackpool Tower and canoed 120 miles of the Leeds Liverpool canal.

He said: “Regular listeners to my breakfast show know I’m always moaning about how I don’t get to see enough of my bed so when the powers that be suggested Liver’s Lancashire Lie In, I jumped at the chance.

“It’ll be great to be able to visit so many different parts of the county over the week but the thought of dragging a four-poster bed up and down some of Lancashire’s biggest hills has got me reaching for the bed covers!

“Thankfully I’ll have a crack team of helpers with me the whole way, made up of BBC Radio Lancashire and BBC North West Tonight presenters – and maybe even one or two famous faces.

“Children in Need is one of the most important things the BBC does and seeing firsthand the difference the donations make to young people’s lives keeps me determined to complete the challenge and raise as much money as possible for such a vital cause.”

BBC Children in Need works throughout the year to ensure that every child in the UK has a safe, happy and secure childhood, and the chance to reach their full potential. It relies on the energy and commitment of thousands of fundraisers and supporters across the UK, who donate their time and money to put on events supporting the Appeal.  Whether doing your baking thing, your fancy-dress party thing or your challenge thing, every penny raised will help support projects across the UK.
