Young artists needed to decorate walkway for Olympic athletes

We are searching for local schools to help us to decorate a walkway for Olympic athletes when they collect their kit ahead of going to the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

In June 2020, the team of over 1,000 athletes and support staff from Team GB will visit the ‘Kitting Out’ event at the Birmingham NEC before they go to the games.

When they visit the Simon Jersey stand, they will pass by the custom walkway created by the children before being fitted for their formal suits, and going on to collect their sports kit, tracksuits, outfits for the opening ceremony and closing ceremony from the other Team GB suppliers.

What does your school need to do to enter?

To enter the competition, we need your school to take part in a drawing competition. There are 33 different Olympic sports, with 47 disciplines and we need your children to choose a sport each and create a drawing to represent it.

They will need to write the chosen sport at the top, and their name and age at the bottom and to draw an image that represents their chosen sport discipline.

The drawing competition entries need to be complete and the entries returned to us by the 24th April, 3 months before the Games begin in Tokyo.

Once we have chosen a winner the drawings will be designed onto the walls of the stand, and your school will be invited along to the NEC to visit the stand and meet some of the Olympic athletes between the 8th June and the 1st July. Once Kitting Out is complete we will be able to provide your school with the artwork for display.

If you would like to participate in the competition or ask for more information, then please contact Jay Heath at or call 07894 239278 and we will send your school a pack of drawing sheets and guide to the Olympic sports for the children to work from.
